Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Dana Funnell
Dr. Dana Funnell grew up and now resides in Gananoque, just east of Kingston. Dana has worked in veterinary clinics since 2002 in various positions including kennel attendant, veterinary assistant, receptionist, and now veterinarian. After finishing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Guelph in 2011, she went on to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2015. After graduating she worked in the Ottawa valley in a mixed animal practice setting, working with animals big and small, from cattle and horses, to dogs and cats, including the occasional llama, chicken, sheep, goat and pig! Dr. Funnell joined the BAH Careteam in 2016 as an Associate Veterinarian and has established a roster of loyal clients since then!
Dr. Funnell has a keen interest in learning. In 2017 she completed a hands-on dental training and extraction course in Baltimore, Maryland. In 2018, she completed a canine and feline abdominal ultrasound course in Guelph, Ontario; an area of particular interest. She has also recently become Fear Free Certified, meaning she has been extensively trained to help prevent and manage fear, anxiety and stress in cats and dogs. Dr. Funnell adopts these practices into her visits to minimize and prevent stress experienced by her patients during their clinic visits.
Dana likes to relax by spending time hiking, crafting, singing, travelling and with her horse Victor. Dana and her husband Rick enjoy playing trivia, entertaining family and friends at their home, playing board games, golfing, attending concerts and music festivals, hockey, and dining. They share their home with 2 dogs and a cat. Fredrick, the cat, is the one with the attitude - no surprise! Cayley, their blind senlor Boston Terrier, and Budzo, a three legged senior Border Collie love to cuddle up in front of the TV and receive all the love and attention her and Rick have to offer!
